Anonymity is granted sparingly and only when the information is vital and verifiable by other means. The section editor must approve any anonymous attribution. Material the desk cannot stand up is withdrawn and noted on the stack.
When material is withdrawn
If a claim fails the book after publication, a fix notice enters the next available wave with the original dateline and a clear correction line. Material we cannot stand up is withdrawn and noted on the stack — not quietly edited without trace.
